Since today is Super Bowl Sunday, I figured it would be appropriate to throw out a few words related to the Superbowl, or at least to football in general. The first word I shared is "nídadiine'," which means, "they will play." The phrase I used for this word is, "Giants éí Patriots yik'iji̜' nídadiine'," which means, "The Giants will play againts the Patriots." Since Navajo is very specific, and they hadn't played yet... the future tense was used. The breakdown: Giants Éí: them Patriots Yik'iji̜': against them Nídadiine': they will play The nexty word I used was, "nídaané," which means, "they are playing," present tense. The sentence used for this word is, "Giants éí Patriots yik'iji̜' nídaané," which means, "The Giants are playing against the Patriots." The breakdown: Giants Éí: them Patriots Yik'iji̜': against them Nídaané: they are playing (right now - present tense) The final word shared is "Jooł yitalí," which means "football." It actually breaks down to the words "ball (jooł)" and "the one you kick (yitalí)." The sentence used for this is, "Jooł yitalí yee nídaané," which means, "They are playing football." The breakdown: Jooł yitalí: football Yee: by means of it Nídaané: they are playing (right now) So, here are some words to use on this Superbowl Sunday! Enjoy & have fun! :-D
