Annual film festival. The Mother Tongue Film Festival showcases films from around the world that speak to the value of language diversity, and celebrates cultural and linguistic diversity by showcasing films and filmmakers from around the world, highlighting the crucial role languages play in our daily lives. Some films are available to stream in full on their website after the festival has closed. Q&A videos are available for some films. ASL interpretation available for some events. Mother Tongue Film Festival is a public program of Recovering Voices, a collaboration between Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
