Due to heavy Sinicization, less than 30% of the Kaxabu know they themselves are plain aboriginals. The Kaxabu living in Shoucheng 守城 tribe have a revitalization project.

「噶哈巫族為臺灣平埔族之一，目前主要分布於南投縣埔里鎮四庄（牛眠山、守城份、大湳、蜈蚣崙）。噶哈巫語目前仍有數位老人家還會使用，有別於絕大部分已經消失的臺灣平埔族語言。
2012年6月25日，一群國外學者來到噶哈巫部落交流。
