Hade is a multi-communal youth initiative in Cyprus which seeks a united Cyprus and conducts peace-keeping exercises, excursions, and language classes in 4 endangered languages/varieties - Cypriot Greek, Cypriot Turkish, Western Armenian and Sanna/Cypriot Arabic.
Every year, for two semesters, HADE! invites Cypriots and anyone in Cyprus to learn each others’ languages and communicate with each other as a form of care and resistance! In times of war and despair, we cannot help but take action towards cultivating a culture of peace, cooperation and solidarity. Envisioning together a united multilingual Cyprus, where we speak Cypriot Greek, Cypriot Turkish, Sanna (Cypriot Arabic), and Armenian (Western)!
We are helped by our amazing volunteers who have helped us complete our rounds of classes for the past 3 years. This project wouldn’t be possible without their dedication and support! We were thrilled to have over 180 students in the last round, and we’re excited to see that number grow even higher!
