Grammars and Language Description
During ethnographic fieldwork in 2006, I asked an elder to provide me with a few helpful phrases for different contexts. She graciously provided me with this list.
I have made a few edits in those instances where the translation is not totally clear or where additional examples in Dene were given with no English translation.
It should be noted that the dialect used in Dillon (Buffalo River Dene Nation) is what is considered the "tu" dialect and is distinct from other Dene "ku" dialects. I've been told that they are mutually intelligible by native speakers, however.
