Loa' -- Sulawesi Sentence List
This resource is a sentence elicitation instrument of around 250 sentences that was filled out for the Barang-barang, Laiyolo, Kalao and Wotu languages of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, with English and Indonesian free translations. The Barang-barang sentences (but none of the other vernacular language data) were also interlinearized. Data in this sentence list were checked by Wyn Laidig and are reliable. Respondents for individual languages are as follows: Pdt Sahabu Dg. Maingak (Barang-barang); Pak Patta Lolo (presumed, Laiyolo); son of Pak Tinggi (Kalao); and Stephanus Syuaib (Wotu). The Barang-Barang sentences were recorded on magnetic cassette tape in 1993 and were later copied to a backup cassette tape circa 2000. They were converted to electronic format by Joanna Belding Smith in November, 2010, from the backup cassette and are included as part of this resource (wav file available upon request). Wotu sentences were also recorded. Circa 2010 an attempt was made to find and recover the Wotu recording but the cassette tape could not be located.
