Spanish preface to the reader (p. [9]-[10]) discusses language similarities and variation among different groups (Hiaquis, Mayos, and Thehuecos) who use forms of the Cahita language. Detailed grammar presented in Spanish includes numerous Cahita examples (p. 1-118, 2nd count); a vocabulary lists over 2000 Spanish terms with Cahita equivalents (p. [1]-[50], 3rd count) and concludes with a section on numerals (p. [50]-[52]) which compares usage in different “Naciones”. The vocabulary groups together terms for trees (p. [9]-[11]), other plants (p. [29]), and birds (p. [39]). The work has been variously attributed to Diego Pablo Gonzalez and to Tomás Basilio (cf. Backer 8:1773).
