A number of descendants of Sierras Miwoks ... live in a scattering of small communities in and around their historical territory in Amador, Calaveras,k Tuolumne, and Mariposa Counties. The most thriving of the dialects is Northern Sierra Miwok, spoken at the Jackson Rancheria, near West Point in Calaveras County.
