Forum for Language Initiatives (FLI), established in 2002 as a nonprofit organization, functions as a resource centre providing training, mentorship, and capacity development to speakers of indigenous languages of northern Pakistan who are working for the preservation and promotion of their languages and cultures. FLI also helps its target language communities establish mother-tongue-based multilingual education (MTB-MLE) schools (or early childhood education programs) through training them in curriculum development and publication, teaching, and school management committee formation. FLI works for language and culture preservation of the indigenous communities through capacity building of local communities/writers, developing scripts and keyboards in local languages, linking the communities to social media, awareness campaigns, arts and culture exhibitions and advocacy campaigns for the language communities. The interventions led to bridge and assimilate the diverse ethnolinguistic communities and promote peace and social cohesion among the indigenous communities of Northern Pakistan.
