Although celebrations happen continuously throughout the year to uplift the Lotha Naga language, the question remains as to whether it is actually being practiced in the way it needs to be to reverse language shift. Pressues from dominant languages and economic opportunities sway youth to disconnect from their mother tongue, even though it is the heart of their identity. Nevertheless, ongoing efforts are occuring to ensure the language lives on, including the development of textbooks and reading materials along with literary competitions and festivals.
