Today's Navajo Word of the Day is the word for the Lakota Nation, which is "Naałání." Another way people say Lakota in Navajo is "Anaałání." Either version can be used. The word basically breaks down to the two components: "anaa'í" which means "war, battle, or raid." "Łání" means "many," in Navajo so the word "Anaałání" describes a people that are always raiding or in battle, but not in a negative way. It describes the Lakota as a warring nation. :-) I am honored to have as my guest on my channel, Paul LaRoche (pronounced La-Rush), who is the leader of a Native American group known as "Brulé."
