Kibala is an undocumented Angolan Bantu language that is not even itemized in the main Bantu languages classification lists. In some – not widely circulated - texts in Portuguese, it is mentionned en passant as a Kimbundu dialect. It is spoken in a region between the H and K typological linguistic zones. The underlying representation of Kibala nominal classification is characterized by the sequence of a floating tone which is the vector of tonal cases syntactically motivated, a preprefixal augment /-/ whose superficial realizations are determined by phonological, phonotatical or phonostylistical restrictions. The class 10 nominal prefix /la/ attests a reminiscent augment which does not appear in De Blois (1979).
