A language maintenance survey carried out with older (aged 46-60), middle aged (30-45) and younger (8-29) Betta Kurumbas shows no signs of language loss for the two older groups. Speakers among the younger group however were unable to produce 5-7% of the basic Betta Kurumba vocabulary items which were tested for.
