The Manoki people (also known as Iranxe) are an indigenous nation of the Juruena valley, in the state of Mato Grosso. The language spoken by the Manoki is a variety of Mỹky, an isolate language. This article aims to present the situation of the Manoki nation and to discuss the strategies that the Manoki are adopting to start a long-term process to reclaim their ancestral language for the younger members of the community, in parallel to a process of reclamation and defense of the ancestral territory of the Manoki people.
