"'Our language is like the sea,' a wise old woman once told me. 'It carries our histories, our songs, our dreams.'"

In this poignant story, Lamiae Zeriouh, an Amazigh student from Morocco, reflects on her hometown by the sea - and how she is trying to hold on to her language, memories, and community as they slowly slip away.

This video was created during the "We Are Our Languages" digital storytelling workshop in late 2024, organized by the Endangered Languages Project and facilitated by StoryCenter.
