Background information

Daniel Kaufman completed his B.A. in the University of the Philippines and obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. from Cornell University in Linguistics with a specialization in the Austronesian languages of Southeast Asia. He continues to publish analytical and historical work on this language family and has taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels at the CUNY Graduate Center and Columbia University. In 2010, he founded the Endangered Language Alliance (ELA), a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the documentation and maintenance of endangered languages spoken by immigrant communities in New York City.
