Endangered Languages

The Myaamia Project at Miami University is a joint venture supported and directed by the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University. A unique tribal initiative housed within a university setting, the Myaamia Project was created in 2001 to serve as the research arm of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s language and cultural revitalization efforts. Its core mission is:To carry out research that directly assists tribal educational initiatives aimed at preservation of Myaamia language and culture among the citizens of the Nation.
